Starting your Success on the Autism Spectrum
with Ian Luepker, John Millar & Kim Elia
Join all three instructors for a peek at the approaches they’ve found that lead to success when working with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
In this 6-week course, we bring together the collective knowledge and experience of three top level instructors in homeopathy to share the information that has helped them achieve successful results with their cases of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
ASD is a complex chronic condition that impairs social communication and interaction across multiple settings. These challenges make creating and maintaining relationships difficult. Additionally, ASD is characterized by restricted patterns of behavior, interests and activities. It is sometimes described as a “neuro-behavioral-psychiatric-genetic-gastrointestinal” disorder because there are multiple organ systems and contributing factors that give rise to the “totality of symptoms”.
For this reason, homeopathy is an ideal fit because ASD requires a holistic and individualized approach. Starting with Aphorism #71, we need to first understand what “dis-ease” we are treating, and what healing looks like in these patients (vis-a-vis Aphorism #9). We will look at the core deficits of ASD through the lens of our repertory and explore commonly-used remedies helpful in treating ASD. This course will focus on how to work with the parents’ expectations, how to elicit prescribing symptoms (even with non-verbal children), and how to monitor progress in a case.

Sessions 5 & 6 were taught by Kim Elia
The autism epidemic requires that homeopathic practitioners prepare to meet a unique set of challenges when treating this patient population. During these two sessions Kim will offer case examples and differentiating points among the most commonly used remedies, ensuring participants an enhanced understanding of the effective use of homeopathy in working with autism spectrum disorders.
Some of the remedies which will be reviewed include:
- Bufo rana
- Baryta carbonica
- Cannabis indica
- Anhalonium lewinii
- Agaricus muscarius
- Stramonium
- Veratrum album
- Helleborus niger
And many other smaller remedies that are common in practice.
Kim will also discuss homeopathic philosophy/methodology, case taking, case analysis, repertory and posology. Cases from the literature and Kim’s clinical practice will be used to illustrate the various points.

Praise for Ian Luepker
I can see so clearly how passionate you are about your work. The way you present the subject is outstanding. I was very curious about the topic and you did an excellent job addressing impulsivity and how to best approach it.
I loved hearing Dr. Luepker talk about the remedies and about the roots of naturopathic medicine. Concrete cases and information on remedies - very refreshing.
I found the remedy pictures useful, as well as ways to approach hyperactivity. The seminar was packed with useful information on homeopathy with ADHD and autism.
The videos of the kids were great, and your review of compulsive and impulsive was so helpful. It has been years since I’ve been near a homeopathic presentation so it was very nice to be re-exposed.
I liked the presenter’s style and approach. I especially liked the remedy descriptions and the dosing recommendations. The information was down to earth and accessible.
I appreciate your attention to vitalism and holism in naturopathic practice. What a strong foundation in classical homeopathy.
The cases with video and the description of emotional senses of the remedies were great. Very passionate and inspiring!
That was a very enjoyable talk. I normally glaze over when folks start talking about specific remedies … but Ian’s demeanor and descriptions were engaging. I’ll definitely reference these slides for treatment of ADHD.
Great presentation! We need this voice in our profession! Thank you for putting this information out there.
I love that you speak slowly and deliberately. Never stop. You have great presence, knowledge, and empathy.
I appreciated the reminder that homeopathy is one of the four main legs of naturopathic practice and I hope we will always include it in educational offerings. You were very encouraging to not be afraid of it, but just to start trying.
Dr. Luepker is a gentle man, and he presented very insightful information. He gave an interesting perspective on the topic. Thank you! Excellent!
Praise for Dr. Millar
I just want to say that Dr. Millar is a tremendous teacher in this webinar format. He brings ready access to multiple sources and approaches to homeopathy and is relaxed and helpful about people’s questions. And pleasant and lots of fun to listen to/watch. It feels immediate even though I am doing it by video from thousands of miles away.
I’m not writing this as something to go into a blurb for his courses, but to say that if he tolerates this format well enough to keep doing it, course after course, that would be tremendous news.
— Sarah D.
Dr. Millar was a superb teacher and had good organization and content . . . His experience and breadth of knowledge kept me engaged the entire time.
— Gloria St John
Learning is a lifelong journey. I have been blessed with wonderful teachers in my life.....but every now and then you encounter one who does more than teach......one who inspires you to think beyond the curriculum and draw from perhaps dusty corners of your mind. John Millar is such a teacher. In his classroom, the subject matter becomes alive, meaningful and relevant.... and fascinating! The power of Classical Homeopathy is revealed in all its healing beauty and the student is changed forever - no longer able to think in limited ways - but instead enriched with sound knowledge, wisdom, creativity and compassion.
— Catherine Elliott
John’s teaching has always made Homeopathy tangible and exciting. John has so much incredible information to share and is always encouraging his students to continue learning. I frequently look back on my notes from John’s classes and am always thankful to have had him as a teacher.
