There is a lot going on in our guts.
Our intestinal flora includes between 500-1000 distinct species of bacteria, with at least ten times as many bacteria living in the gut as there are human cells in the body. The diversity and composition of our gut bacteria has been shown to impact significantly on our health, in numerous ways - with disturbances in bowel flora implicated by modern science in obesity, autoimmune disease, even anxiety and depression.
Nearly a century ago, the British bacteriologist Edward Bach observed abnormal populations of bacteria in the feces of hospitalized patients, and set out to develop vaccines targeted at these species. Fortune had him join forces with the London Homeopathic Hospital, and the bowel nosodes - remedies prepared from fecal bacteria - were born.
Bach's work was continued in collaboration with Charles Wheeler, Thomas Dishington, John Paterson, and most prominently by Elizabeth Paterson, who carried this work into the late 1950's, providing us with valuable evidence-based guidelines for their use in clinical practice.
Contemporary discoveries regarding gut bacteria and epigenetics highlight the significance of interventions that target - positively and negatively - the gut flora.
This course will:
- trace the history of medical attention to gut flora, from Pasteur and Mechnikov, through John Harvey Kellogg, to the contributions of Edward Bach and John and Elizabeth Paterson, through to present discoveries in the epigenetic implications of our microbial flora.
- identify the Bach/Paterson bowel nosodes according to contemporary bacteriology, and study these as homeopathic remedies - detailing their characteristics and profiling their roles as primary and intercurrent prescriptions in case management.
Case examples in each session will illustrate the practical use of bowel nosodes in practice, and introduce us to resources available for helping us to identify these in our daily casework.
About Dr. Taylor
"My goal is to help you develop specific skills in casework and materia medica study - grounded in traditional homeopathic philosophy - which you can apply productively in every-day practice."
Dr. Will Taylor, a research scientist, medical doctor and naturalist, will bring nearly three decades of clinical experience to this in depth discussion of bowel nosodes.
The course on understanding and working with the Bowel Nosodes with Dr.Wiill Taylor was one of your MOST beneficial courses to date - and there have been a lot of great courses. This subject (bowel nosodes) is a blank in many of the schools of Homeopathy. Doctor Will Taylor is a master teacher - I love the way he dives into the history as well as the current science of each course subject. I love the way he can make sense of the patients' expressions and point out the relationships between the somatic and mental/emotional symptoms. I love the obvious respect he has for our most learned Masters of Homeopathy and his manner of including their contributions in the course material.

The Bowel Nosode course was a gift to the Homeopathic Community and to ALL. Working with the understanding gleaned in this course we have acquired an invaluable tool. Now, in each case, I will be able to assess the bowel symptoms with an educated interest and confidence regardless of the presenting complaint. I recommend this course to every student of Homeopathy. I have been practicing since 1997 and am still a student.
THANK YOU, Dr. Taylor - Blessed was the day YOU found Homeopathy. Your teachings inspires us all to be better Homeopaths, I value the 'pearl' necklace I am making studying with you.

I adore Will's presentation style, have had him several times as a teacher at the school I attended. I appreciate his sense of humour and movie quotes. I will listen to him anytime. If I could afford to take all his online classes, I would.
Please tell Will Taylor that I thoroughly enjoyed his course and he is a fantastic teacher. He has such an easy going manner, very in depth knowledge, humor and clear teaching that it is pure pleasure to hear him.
