The Gastrointestinal Wonderland
Homeopathic Treatment of GI Disorders

with Dr. John Millar

Chew on this: the human alimentary canal comprises a whopping 30 feet of energy-extracting, nutrient-absorbing, waste-expelling organs, including the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines, and rectum. That’s a lot of terrain for your food to travel, and a lot of pathology can take place amid this tubular and coiled gastrointestinal topography. But before you can treat the disease, you have to be able to recognize what it is.

The Gastrointestinal Wonderland
Homeopathic Treatment of GI Disorders

January 31, 2017
5:00 - 6:00 pm Pacific time

Join us for a sampling of what will be covered in the six-week course, which emphasizes an unprejudiced, Hahnemannian approach to diagnoses and treatment. The homeopath must be able to differentiate between acute and chronic presentations, know how to perform a differential diagnosis, and choose the correct remedy. With his extensive training in both naturopathic medicine and homeopathy, Dr. Millar is able to help you break down all of this information into small bites that are easily swallowed and readily digested, leaving you satisfied and eager for the next course.

You’d think it would be irregular to be

...but over 63 million people in the U.S. alone are chronically constipated. Likewise, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) affects 20 percent of the population, and 75% of people over 45 have experienced the dubious pleasure of hemorrhoids. It was concluded in an epidemiological study published in Gastroenterology that “GI diseases are a source of substantial morbidity, mortality, and cost in the United States”; Nexium sales for GERD approached $6 billion in 2011 alone. Those are some tough statistics to stomach, and a bitter pill for patients to have to swallow.

Homeopathy, as always, provides a more gentle, rapid, and permanent solution for gastrointestinal conditions but, in order to cure, what the patient presents must be thoroughly understood. There are three key factors in any successful differential diagnosis and treatment: the symptoms; the pathology; and the remedy. Knowing with certainty any two of these variables of the equation should give you the third. Hahnemann tells us that our best tool invariably consists of strict adherence to Aphorism 6 of The Organon: unprejudiced observation of the patient. One of the most common errors, however, is to be presented with an acute case and to treat it as a chronic; we must be able to sit and listen and learn to differentiate between the two. All too frequently, not just our prejudices get in the way, but so too does our ignorance, when we are not sufficiently familiar with the disease pathology being presented. It is incumbent upon every homeopath to be able to ascertain a correct diagnosis, to differentiate among the potential matching remedies – from symptoms, to families, to miasms – and to properly understand remedy relationships.

The goal of this course is to become more efficient and, as a result, more effective, in the diagnosis and homeopathic treatment of gastrointestinal conditions.

In this six-week course, your experienced guide, teacher, naturopathic physician, and homeopath, Dr. John Millar, will lead you on a trip “down the rabbit hole” into the known and the potentially unknown pathology of the human alimentary canal, with stopovers for tea and croquet in the mouth and esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines, and rectum.

Conditions to be covered in this course include:

• Thrush • Swallowing difficulties (achalasia)
• Gastritis • Ulcers
• Dyspepsia • Acute enteritis
• Crohn’s Disease • Colitis
• Constipation • Diarrhea
• Hemorrhoids • Rectal fissures

Also to be featured are bowel flora and bowel nosodes, as well as chronic non-miasmatic diseases and the use of probiotics and prebiotics as part of lifestyle management. Larger remedies that will be discussed include Nux vomica, Colocynthis, Bryonia, and Cuprum metallicum. Smaller remedies, such as Croton tiglium, Gambogia, and Jalapa, will be a special focus.

Please join Dr. Millar for this smorgasbord of gastrointestinal delights, all presented in his trademark highly-educated, ever-curious, yet folksy teaching style.

We are pleased to offer this new course with Dr. Millar after the overwhelming response we received to his FreeCast in November, 2016:
